April: Autumn Fires Up
April is the real turning point. The average swell height lifts to 2.4m (7.9ft), periods stretch to 12.2s, and the ideal wind percentage jumps to 20 percent - the biggest monthly jump of the year. The swell rose is still SSW/SW-heavy, with SW at 23.3 percent and SSW at 19.3 percent, but the WSW window widens to 7.6 percent and W swell to 1.7 percent. Combined with WNW and NW, the favorable window is now close to 10 percent, roughly double the summer months.
