As the Azores High begins to relax and the Icelandic Low strengthens, low-pressure systems track across the Atlantic and aim long-period groundswell toward the Iberian Peninsula. An important nuance for this SSW-facing stretch is that direct S/SW swell is relatively rare in the climatological data; the real bread-and-butter energy comes from the long-period NNW/N/NW groundswell that refracts into the bay. The wind climatology is kind to Las Salinas, too: the bad S/SW onshore flow rarely shows up, while offshore N/NNE/NNW winds are the dominant signal. October is the standout month with ideal surfing conditions 37% of the time, while November through March still offer 24-30% ideal wind windows.
