Apollonas, Greece, is primarily a windswell-driven spot with very limited ground swell influence, as the data shows 0% ground swell year-round. The best months for surfing here are typically during winter and late summer when windswell frequency peaks and swell size is at its highest. From December through February, windswell occurrence is consistently above 75%, with mean swell sizes around 1.1m, making these the most reliable months for waves. August also stands out with 78% windswell and 1.0m waves, though winds are still predominantly unfavorable. The rest of the year sees a decline in swell activity, with April through June being the least consistent (56-60% windswell, 0.7m waves). Unfortunately, wind conditions are almost always poor, with good wind days rarely exceeding 4% in any month. Surfers will need to time their sessions carefully, as cross-shore or offshore winds are extremely rare—most sessions will require dealing with onshore chop. Winter offers marginally better wave consistency, but expect challenging wind conditions year-round. Advanced surfers may find some rideable waves in peak windswell months, but Apollonas is not a high-quality surf destination due to its unreliable winds and small, wind-dependent swell.
