Fair Surf Season (April - May & September)

The transition months bring a shift in the weather patterns. The thermal low over Anatolia begins to strengthen, initiating the summer north wind regime, but occasional frontal passages still deliver swell. Average heights drop to 0.7-0.9 meters with periods around 4.5-4.8 seconds, yielding mostly small, groveling waves. Offshore wind percentages hover around 5-7% in spring and drop to 2% in September. While quality is elusive, these months offer the best chance for clean, smaller waves on a longboard or funboard when the wind cooperates.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

The summer months are the most challenging for surfers at Apollonas. The persistent Etesian winds blow from the north, directly onshore, ruining what little swell is present. The swell itself is dominated by short-period, local wind waves from the NNW with an average height around 1.0m in July and August, but these are accompanied by strong onshore winds over 30kph up to 30-50% of the time. The result is choppy, messy conditions with barely any rideable waves. Offshore wind is virtually non-existent (2% of the time). This is the time to travel elsewhere or take a break from surfing this spot.
