Average wave heights hold a solid 1.3m with periods frequently reaching the 6-9s range, delivering punchy, rippable walls. This is the peak window for quality surf at Bedhuge.

Fair Surf Season (April - May & October - November)

During the transitional months, the Indian Ocean juggles between monsoonal regimes. April and May see the northeast monsoon retreat, with winds veering westerly and swell picking up from the SSE to SW – still favorable but less consistent. October and November mimic the opposite transition: the southwest monsoon weakens, and while decent SW-W swell can still sneak in, the window of clean offshore wind shrinks. Expect a mix of fun days interspersed with lulls.

Low Surf Season (December - March)

The northeast monsoon dominates the winter months, driving persistent ENE to E winds that blow directly onshore at Bedhuge. Swell is predominantly from ENE to ESE – directions that wrap poorly onto the east-facing breaks and generate short, choppy waves. Average heights hover around 1.0m with periods under 7s, making for mostly small, messy conditions. Only the occasional pulse of longer-period westerly swell can salvage a session, but such windows are brief and rare.

January: Northeast Monsoon Misery

January is deep in the grip of the northeast monsoon, with winds howling from NNE to ENE a combined 73% of the time – all directly onshore at Bedhuge. The swell mirrors the wind, with ENE (40.2%) and E (28.4%) dominating, delivering short, weak waves averaging just 1.1m at a meager 6.4s period. Offshore winds (from SW-WSW) occur only 10% of the time, usually during brief lulls. When the rare westerly pulse arrives, it can produce a clean, rideable wave, but most days are a frustrating mix of bumpy, small surf.
