Canggu seasonal overview
Canggu, Bali, offers consistent surf conditions year-round, with ground swells dominating the wave activity nearly every month, rarely dropping below 90% prevalence. The swell size averages between 1.4m and 2.0m, peaking from June to August when the waves are largest and most powerful, making these months ideal for experienced surfers. However, wind conditions during this period are less favorable, with bad onshore winds occurring over 80% of the time in July, August, and December, which can create choppy surf. The sweet spot for balanced conditions is from March to May, when ground swells remain strong (96–99%), swell size is manageable (1.4–1.7m), and wind conditions improve, with April standing out as the best month—nearly 50% good offshore winds and consistent 1.5m swells. While October and November also see decent swell consistency and size, wind quality drops again, with onshore winds becoming more frequent. For surfers prioritizing clean waves with fewer crowds, late-season months like September and October can still deliver good sessions, though less reliably. Overall, mid-year (June–August) brings the biggest waves but challenging winds, while the transitional months (March–May) offer the best compromise between swell quality and cleaner conditions.
