This combo produces solid, rippable waves with cleaner faces. While wind quality dips slightly (18-19% ideal), the mixing of lingering swells and emerging easterly flows can create long, powerful rides without the winter crowds. Australia's summer and early autumn see a lull in swell activity as the storm track retreats southward. Westerly and northwesterly winds (W, WNW, NW, NNW) become much more common, collectively over 28% of observations.
