Best Surf Season (February - April)

During these months, Kumari Point experiences its most consistent and high-quality surf. The northeast monsoon retreats and the transition to spring brings a high frequency of offshore winds from the north quadrant, particularly N, NNE, and NW. Swell directions are dominated by S and SSW, providing the optimal long-period groundswell for the south-facing beach. Average wave heights sit in the fun 1.0-1.1m range with periods averaging 12-14 seconds, delivering powerful, rippable waves. February and March are the standout months with ideal wind conditions over half the time, making this the prime window for clean, groomed surf.

Fair Surf Season (October - January)

As the southwest monsoon weakens and winter sets in, Kumari Point sees a return of favorable swell directions from S, SSE, and SSW, but with less reliability in wind. Offshore winds from the north still occur, but the frequency drops to 20-30% on average. Wave heights average 1.1-1.4m with periods around 12-13 seconds — solid, rideable waves. However, you'll need to pick your days carefully as onshore winds from the south and southwest can spoil the surface. October and November offer the best chances of clean conditions, while December and January are more variable but still capable of delivering epic sessions when the stars align.

Low Surf Season (May - September)

The southwest monsoon dominates the region from May through September, bringing persistent onshore winds from the south and southwest that destroy wave quality at Kumari Point. Despite this being the most powerful swell window — average wave heights climb to 1.6-2.1m with periods of 12-14 seconds — the relentless onshore flow turns the ocean into a choppy, messy mess. Ideal offshore wind drops to single digits (1-5% in June-August), making surfable conditions extremely rare. If you're a glutton for punishment, you might find a rare morning window, but overall this is a time to focus on other spots or activities. The swell is pumping, but the wind is a dealbreaker.

May: Monsoon Precursor

May is a transitional month at Kumari Point. The swell ramps up significantly to an average of 1.6m with 13.2s periods, fueled by the early southwest monsoon storms. The swell direction shifts more to the SW (41.5%) alongside SSW (47.2%) — both still good directions for our south-facing break. However, the wind pattern is a dealbreaker: onshore winds from the SW and WSW dominate over 50% of the time, blowing directly into the coast and chopping up the waves. Ideal offshore winds plummet to just 14%. The result is powerful but messy surf, often blown out and difficult to ride. Only the occasional early morning or late evening window might offer clean conditions. Unless you're desperate for size, it's time to look elsewhere.
