As the southwest monsoon weakens and winter sets in, Kumari Point sees a return of favorable swell directions from S, SSE, and SSW, but with less reliability in wind. Offshore winds from the north still occur, but the frequency drops to 20-30% on average. Wave heights average 1.1-1.4m with periods around 12-13 seconds — solid, rideable waves. However, you'll need to pick your days carefully as onshore winds from the south and southwest can spoil the surface. The southwest monsoon dominates the region from May through September, bringing persistent onshore winds from the south and southwest that destroy wave quality at Kumari Point. Despite this being the most powerful swell window — average wave heights climb to 1.6-2.1m with periods of 12-14 seconds — the relentless onshore flow turns the ocean into a choppy, messy mess. Ideal offshore wind drops to single digits (1-5% in June-August), making surfable conditions extremely rare. If you're a glutton for punishment, you might find a rare morning window, but overall this is a time to focus on other spots or activities. The swell is pumping, but the wind is a dealbreaker.

November: Building Consistency

November sees further improvement as the northeast monsoon establishes. Average swell settles to a comfortable 1.2m with 12.7s periods, and the direction broadens to include more S and SSE alongside the dominant SSW (38%) and S (22%). This variety still aligns well with the spot. Wind patterns show a marked increase in offshore flow from the ENE and NE, but the ideal north winds (N, NNE, NW, NNW) occur about 30% of the time — a significant jump from the monsoon months. The result is more frequent clean sessions with groomed, fun-sized waves. November is a solid month to start scoring consistent quality at Kumari Point.
