Mizata seasonal overview
Best Surf Season (November - March)
As the North Pacific high-pressure system strengthens, a steady pulse of offshore winds from the N, NNE, and NNW becomes the norm, grooming the SSW-facing beach into a clean, peeling canvas. Swell heights average between 1.0 and 1.2m with periods often exceeding 12 seconds, delivering punchy, rideable waves that hold their shape from dawn to dusk. This is the most consistent window for clean, offshore conditions, where the combination of long-period S/SSW groundswell and light N winds produces glassy sessions with minimal chop.
Fair Surf Season (April & October)
Transition months bring a shift in the balance. April sees a ramp-up in swell height to 1.2m and a peak in period at 14.1s, but the offshore wind reliability drops to around 53%. October follows a similar pattern: solid 1.3m swell from the S/SSW corridor, yet the wind window is narrower, favoring morning offshore breezes that often give way to thermal onshore flow. These months offer good to very good days if you time the tides and wind shifts correctly.
Low Surf Season (May - September)
Southern hemisphere winter storms fire up the tropical Pacific, producing the largest swells of the year (up to 1.4m average) with long periods that can reach 14 seconds. However, the offshore wind consistency drops to 50-65%, with the worst months (May and June) seeing only 50-54% ideal winds. When the prevailing NE trades slacken or swing S, onshore conditions can ruin the wave quality. Still, July stands out as a hidden gem: 65% offshore wind reliability combined with 1.3m swell makes it a mini sweet spot within the low season. Overall, expect more variation and a higher chance of bumpy texture, but when the right combo aligns, you’ll score powerful, long-period pumping surf.
