Occasional weak cold fronts slipping past the continent can still deliver a few days of lighter north wind, and short-period wind swells from the south can offer fun-sized groveling waves (0.5-1.5m) when the wind backs off. But for the most part, summer is a waiting game – keep an eye on the forecast for those brief interludes of offshore flow, usually at dawn before the daily south-easter picks up.
