September sees the beginning of the spring fling, with wind patterns still carrying a winter influence but the swell direction already starting to rotate back toward the ENE and NE. Good days exist, but consistency drops off.

Low Surf Season (October - March)

From October through March, Pambula Rivermouth faces its toughest conditions. The NE quadrant remains a factor (NE 9.3%, NNE 7.9%), providing the optimal swell angles for the rivermouth. Wave heights in the 1-2m range are frequent, with a notable increase in 2-2.5m sets from the S-SSW. August offers a last hurrah of winter consistency before the wind regime starts to shift back to more northerly onshores. It’s still a prime month, especially during the first half.
