Fair Surf Season (October - February)

The winter half-year sees a slight uptick in average swell height to 0.7-0.8m, thanks to increased storm activity across the North Pacific and the Sea of Okhotsk. However, the dominant swell direction swings to the north and north-northwest—completely shadowed by the coastline for an east-facing beach. Most of the energy from these winter gales passes by Patrokl, leaving only background swell. Furthermore, the wind regime becomes dominated by strong northerly winds, which create choppy, onshore conditions and drop the ideal wind percentage to a meager 4-7%. The occasional westerly or northwesterly outflow from a passing cold front can briefly clean things up, but overall, it's a season of low-expectation surfing with a lot of flat days mixed in.
