This is the heart of the northeast monsoon, when the trade winds blow strong and steady from the NE and ENE—directly onshore at Pencit Reef. Swell heights are at their annual peak, averaging 1.3-1.7m with periods around 9.5-10s, meaning plenty of powerful, pumping energy hits the reef. The catch? The wind is consistently bad, with ideal offshore conditions occurring only 3-6% of the time. Most days are choppy, messy, and blown out, making it difficult to find a clean wave. Occasional cold fronts pushing south can briefly flip the wind to the S, but these windows are rare and often short-lived. If you time it perfectly, you might catch a glassy morning with a firing NE swell—but patience is key during these months.

July: Peak of the Summer Pattern

July continues the summer trend with an average swell height of 0.7m and a period of 8.4s. The swell direction spreads out slightly: ENE (34.8%), E (23.4%), and NE (5.1%) still lead, but there are contributions from the west (WSW 6.5%, W 6.1%). This indicates local windswell mixing with background NE energy. The wind is favorable a remarkable 50% of the time, with SSE (13.5%), S (10.3%), SE (11%), and SW (5.7%) providing clean, offshore conditions.
