However, the percentage of ideal east wind drops to 21% as the Azores High begins to strengthen and the thermal low over Iberia starts to generate more afternoon sea breezes. Offshore east wind days drop slightly to 32%, but the windows between cold fronts often produce crisp, clean conditions as high pressure builds in behind the frontal passages. The fetch from these cyclones creates long, powerful lines that wrap perfectly into the beach. Expect occasional onshore blows as lows pass overhead, but the waves will still be solid enough to challenge intermediate to advanced surfers.
