Best Surf Season (February - April)

From February through April, the South Pacific storm track aligns with the trade-wind regime to create Maraa's most complete surf window. Average surf heights build from roughly 6ft (1.8m) in February to 7ft (2.1m) in April, while wave periods stretch to 12.9 seconds - ideal for this southwest-facing reef. Perhaps more importantly, the east to northeast offshore wind signal stays strong, keeping the wind favorable 38 to 42 percent of the time. S and SSW swells dominate the directional spectrum, with the entire S-to-W window accounting for as much as 53 percent of all recorded swell energy in March. The result is powerful, groomed, long-period surf that is both heavy and rippable.
