The North Atlantic storm machine is in full swing from November through March, and Log Cabins turns on with real authority. Average swells run 8-9ft (2.4-2.7m) with periods of 11-13s, and the dominant directions are exactly what this west-northwest-facing beach wants: NNW and NW. Strong cold fronts and low-pressure systems that drop into the western Atlantic point their fetch toward the Caribbean, sending long-period groundswell down the island chain. When the NAO dips negative, the storm track often becomes even more favorable. Combined with the reliable east through south-southeast offshore wind (O, OSO, SO, SSO), this is the time when Log Cabins shows its true potential.
