Slotted in a stunning cove beneath the bluffs off Ritz-Carlton Drive, Salt Creek's Middles is the go-to peak directly in front of the restrooms—a dependable sand-and-rock setup offering both lefts and rights in a beachbreak format. As the beating heart of the larger Salt Creek zone, which also includes the Point and Gravels, Middles draws the bulk of the crowd with its consistent, rideable waves. The vibe is decent, the surf is regular, and the lineup is intensely competitive, demanding sharp positioning and a willingness to fight for every set. Best on a south swell with light offshore winds and mid- to low tides, this break delivers a solid, workable wave for surfers who can handle a fray.

Best Surf Season (November - February)

The winter months are when Salt Creek really earns its reputation. The North Pacific storm track ramps up, driving long-period groundswell from the W and WSW straight into the beach's west-southwest exposure. At the same time, high pressure over the Great Basin funnels offshore NE/ENE winds down the coast, producing the clean, groomed conditions this break is known for. Ideal offshore winds peak at 54% in both December and January, and the combination of 12s+ periods and consistent W/SW swell creates the most reliable and best-quality surf of the year.
