February: Strong NW Swell with Trade-Textured Windows

February maintains the winter momentum with average swell height of 6ft (1.8m) and an average period of 12.4 seconds. The North Pacific storm track still feeds the spot with NW swell at 17.9%, NNW at 12.3%, and WNW at 10.9%, roughly 41% of the total swell energy from the favorable quadrant. NE and ENE swell add another 21%, creating a mix of groundswell and trade swell on the same day. The 5-8ft (1.5-2.5m) size class dominates, and the better NW pulses can push through at 6.5-8ft (2-2.5m) with long, powerful intervals.

Wind is slightly less favorable than January, with the ideal offshore S/SSW/SW flow only 19% of the time. The ENE trades are locked in at 35.2%, and with E at 12.8% and NE at 12.4%, most days will have a textured surface. When a front passes and winds swing to the south or southwest, the north-facing points turn glassy and the NW groundswell becomes the star. Air temperatures stay warm at 22.6°C, water at 24.2°C, and precipitation increases slightly to 2.26mm/day as winter fronts graze the island.
