June: Full Trade-Wind Grind

June is the beginning of the low season. Average swell height remains 5ft (1.5m), but the average period drops to 11.4 seconds, and the direction is almost purely trade wind. E swell leads at 37.1%, with ESE at 23.3%, SE at 13.5%, and SSE at 9.5%; ENE adds 11.4%. There is zero N, NNW, NW, or WNW swell in the data. The surf consists of short-to-mid-period easterly windswell and swell from the broad Pacific trade fetch, with the most common size around 3.3-6.5ft (1-2m).

Clean conditions are rare. The ENE wind blows a staggering 83.6% of the time, with 44.5% of all observations at 30-40kph. Only 4% of the time falls in the ideal offshore S/SSW/SW window. For a north-facing spot, the persistent ENE flow and lack of N-NW groundswell create mostly mushy, bumpy, less organized surf. Air temperature averages 25.2°C, water 25.8°C, and rainfall is low at 0.96mm/day, so at least the weather is pleasant for a paddle.
