Today's Surf Conditions at Moruya Breakwall
Best Surf Season & Climatology
Best Surf Season (April - July)
Moruya Breakwall is an east-facing setup that lives and dies by the wind direction as much as the wave energy. The cleanest, most dependable surfing of the year comes from April through July. During autumn the westerly wind belt shifts north, cold fronts begin clipping the New South Wales coast, and the wind field turns progressively offshore from the SW-WNW quadrant. Ideal wind percentages jump from 26 percent in March to 38 percent in April and then peak at 49 percent in June and July. Average wave periods climb to 9.2-9.3s while average swell heights hold near 4ft (1.2m). It is a fantastic mix of punchy size and groomed surfaces - the breakwall can handle the eastern energy, and the westerly wind keeps it clean.
