Best Surf Season (April - August)

As autumn takes hold in the South Atlantic, Ibiraquera starts to fire. The average wave height pushes up from 4ft (1.2m) to 4-5ft (1.3-1.5m), while the average period stretches from 8.6s in March to 9.6s in May and June. This is when the swell window fills with consistent ESE, SE and SSE energy, and the westerly winds associated with cold fronts moving off Argentina deliver the clean offshore flow the break needs. Ideal offshore wind frequencies peak at 61% in June, making late autumn and winter the most dependable months for groomed, powerful surf. Water temperatures fall steadily from a summery 24.9°C in March to 17.4°C by August, so the conditions get more serious, but the quality jump is worth it.
