Best Surf Season (November - March)

The winter months bring the most reliable offshore winds to Bucerias, with ideal conditions occurring upwards of 80% of the time. While the dominant swell shifts to a more westerly and northwesterly direction, the long-period nature of these swells (averaging 13-14 seconds) ensures plenty of power. The wave heights typically range from fun 0.5m to solid 1.5m, offering clean, groomed lines for your longboard or hybrid. The combination of offshore breeze and long-period groundswell creates some of the most user-friendly and beautiful surf of the year.

Fair Surf Season (April, May, September, October)

April and May mark a transition as the winter swell pattern gives way to more southerly energy. Wind consistency decreases slightly, but the swell direction becomes more favorable for the SW-facing beach. September and October see a similar pattern, with the potential for larger swells from the South Pacific hurricane belt. While wind conditions are not as reliable as winter, the window of opportunity expands with more direct SW swell, delivering punchy waves in the waist-to-shoulder high range when the wind plays ball.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

The summer months are the quietest for Bucerias in terms of surf quality. The wind becomes predominantly onshore from the southwest, ruining the wave faces. Although the swell direction is perfect from the SW and SSW, the lack of consistent offshore winds means the waves are often choppy and messy. The swell heights remain small to moderate, averaging around 1.0m, and frequent thermal winds kick up during the day. Early mornings might offer a brief window of clean conditions, but overall, this is the least consistent time for a surf trip.
