Most importantly, offshore wind conditions dominate over 60% of the time thanks to robust high-pressure systems over the Gulf of Mexico that funnel NW to WSW winds along the Panamanian coast. This is the prime window for clean, rippable waves.
Fair Surf Season (April, May, November)
The transition months see a gradual decline in swell energy as the trades relax. Swell heights drop to the 0.9–1.0m range and periods shorten to the average 7.4–7.5s range, making for groveling conditions. The offshore wind window narrows to around 46–60%, with more frequent light onshore flow from the N–NE quadrant during the day.
