October is the last month of the year in which the winter swell machine still has meaningful horsepower, and the wind climate is arguably the best of the entire year. The wave rose stays impressively winter-like: SW contributes 36 percent, WSW 56 percent, and the W-WNW-NW slot adds another 6 percent. Average height rebounded to 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) in October, matching the midwinter peak, while the period hums at 12.7s. That means the NNW-facing beach is still receiving substantial, long-period groundswell - now filtered through a much calmer atmosphere.

Ideal surfing wind sits at 69 percent, and the offshore S-SSW-SW sector is utterly dominant at over 65 percent of all wind observations. SSW alone pushes 26 percent, and the N-NNW bad-wind quadrant is reduced to around 13 percent, mostly light. Rain is down to 0.66 mm/day, air temperature rises to 13.0°C (55°F), and water temperature is 12.6°C (54°F). This combination - late-winter swell size with spring-like offshore consistency - makes October one of the high-value months for surfers who want the power of winter without quite so much storm-tossed chaos.
