February: More Swell, Same Trade Wind Bite

February remains in the trade-wind-dominated dry season, though the swell mix starts to evolve. ENE swell jumps to 45.8 percent while NE swell accounts for 19.7 percent, and there is a noticeable peak in the 3-6.5ft (1-2m) range - 16.9 percent of all swell comes from ENE at 5-6.5ft (1.5-2m), and 9.8 percent from NE in the same class. The average period ticks up slightly to 8.9s, but that's still too short for Ollie's Point to really handle the energy with quality. Winds are still overwhelmingly from the NE (55%) and ENE (34.6%), with strong 20-40kph epochs dominating, leaving ideal conditions at just 26 percent. The proportion of favorable SSW and SW swell does increase a little compared to January, up to 2.9 and 3.9 percent respectively, but most of it remains in the 2-3ft (0.5-1m) category. You need a break in the trades and a Southern Hemi pulse colliding with a lighter NE morning breeze to find clean waves. Dry and warm conditions continue with air temperatures averaging 26.6°C, water temperature at 26.0°C, and essentially no rain.
