November: The Winter Swell Engine Fires Up

November is the first month of the genuine best surf window at Cayo Coco. The average swell height jumps to 2.6ft (0.8m), the average period edges up to 3.4s, and the swell spectrum begins to show a more balanced mix: E swell falls to 22.8%, ENE swell is the biggest block at 36.9%, and the optimal N/NNW/NW quadrant reaches nearly 8%. While the trades still blow strongly, with E/ENE winds at about 52%, the increasing frequency of cold fronts means more swings to S/SSW/SW offshore wind. That post-frontal combo is the key to scoring at this spot. The wave period is still on the short side, so the surf will not compare to true deep-ocean groundswell destinations, but the best frontal systems can deliver punchy 2-4ft (0.6-1.2m) waves on the north-facing sandbars. Water temperatures cool to 27.2°C, air temperatures drop to 25.9°C, and rainfall dries out significantly to 1.39mm/day, making it a much more pleasant month to sit in the lineup.
