Best Surf Season (November - March)

The dry-season months of November through March are Punta Roca's bread and butter. Strong high-pressure systems over the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean funnel cool offshore flow through the Central American mountain gaps, giving the coast a reliable N/NNE and NNW breeze. That offshore cleaning flow is the secret at Punta Roca: it keeps the south-facing point walling up and hollow, even when average swell heights are only around 3-4ft (1.0-1.2m). The swell window is almost exclusively S/SSW/SW, with SSW accounting for the vast majority of the energy, and periods of 12-13s keep the waves lined-up and powerful.
