Best Surf Season & Climatology

Best Surf Season (October - March)

Ligia is a classic west-southwest facing Mediterranean beach that depends entirely on the Ionian Sea's winter storm track for any real surf. The best season runs from October through March, when low-pressure systems moving across the central and eastern Mediterranean throw long-fetch SW, WSW and W swell toward the beach. During this window, average wave heights reach around 2-3ft (0.6-0.9m) and periods climb toward 5.9s, while offshore NNE, NE, ENE and E winds are far more common, especially in December and January, the peak months. It will never be huge, but this is by far the most consistent and cleanest time to surf Ligia.
