Best Surf Season (December - February)

The winter months are the most reliable stretch at Il Castello. Average surf heights climb to 0.9-1.0m (3-3.3ft) and the ideal wind windows peak at 21%, thanks to the regular establishment of a continental high over northern Italy that feeds N, NNE, NE and ENE offshore winds. Low pressure systems tracking across the Mediterranean fire up SW and WSW swell, the best directions for this SSW-facing beach. The average wave period still hovers near 5s, so it is punchy windswell rather than long-period groundswell, but the combination of larger southwest swell and cleaner offshore flow gives winter the clear edge.
