Best Surf Season (October - March)

The North Pacific comes alive during these months, sending consistent, powerful swell trains from the NE and NNE towards Marami Beach. Average wave heights range from 1.3m in October to a pumping 2.0m in January, with periods often exceeding 10 seconds, delivering solid, long-period energy. However, this is when the Northeast Monsoon is at its strongest, dominating the wind regime with onshore flow from the N-NE. The window for truly epic conditions is when a passing low-pressure system or a brief lull in the trades allows for offshore winds from the S-SW. Those rare days, when the wave heights are in the 1.5-2.5m range and the wind shifts southerly, are the stuff of Marami legend. You'll need to be patient, but the payoff is huge.

Fair Surf Season (April - May & September)

As the monsoon transitions, we find a sweet spot compromise. In April and May, the NE swell begins to wane, with average heights dropping to 1.3m and 1.0m respectively. But the wind dial shifts favorably: the percentage of ideal, offshore flow from the S-SW skyrockets to 45% in May. This means you can score clean, fun-sized waves with good shape more often. The wave periods remain solid around 9 seconds, offering punchy, rippable walls. September acts as the mirror season on the other side of summer, with swell starting to build (0.9m) and the wind still largely offshore (67% ideal). It's a groomed, playful period that rewards consistency over power.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

The Southwest Monsoon kicks into full gear from June to August, bringing a near-constant supply of offshore winds from the S-SW. In fact, ideal wind conditions occur 63-74% of the time – the best of the year. However, the trade-off is significant wave famine. Swell heights average a lackluster 0.8m, dominated by short-period windswell from the E and ENE. Periods hover around 9 seconds, producing choppy, groveling conditions at best. It's a great time for beginners to practice in small, clean waves, but for the experienced surfer looking for power, it's strictly a summer slumber.
