Best Surf Season (April - September)

Punta Conejo's best windows come when the Southern Hemisphere storm track is firing and the ocean delivers those long-period SSW/S swells. From April through September the average period sits securely in the 12.3-13.6s range, and the ideal wind percentage climbs to 40-42% in June, July, August and September. There is not a huge amount of overhead swell-most days run 4-5ft (1.2-1.5m)-but the waves have real power, clean shoulders and that smooth, lined-up feel that makes this stretch of Mexican coastline stand out.

Fair Surf Season (February, March and October)

The transition months around the main quality window offer a strong mix of both swell families. February and March see the North Pacific winter energy slowly giving way to long-period SSW pulses, while October is the mirror image as the northern hemisphere re-awakes. Wave heights often hit 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) or better, but wind consistency is more hit-and-miss-ideal wind percentages fall into the mid-to-high 30s, and you need to pick your mornings carefully.

Low Surf Season (November - January)

Despite being the biggest time of year on paper, the stretch from November through January is the least reliable for true quality at Punta Conejo. The North Pacific throws down more frequent 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) groundswells, but periods are shorter-8.7-9.3s-and strong NNW winds blow a higher percentage of the time, making the surface lumpy and the sets less organized. If a cold front passes and westerly offshore wind lines up, the low season can still produce epic days, but they are exceptions rather than the rule.
