Just a 10-minute paddle east of the main lineup, Nestles reveals itself as a short-lived, explosive reef break that rewards precision and punishes hesitation. Its peaks fire up quickly and disappear just as fast, making them tricky to read—even for seasoned surfers. This is not a spot for the faint of heart; conditions can turn gnarly without warning, and reliability is not its strong suit. Expect to work for every wave, with no guarantee of consistency session to session. When it does light up, Nestles handles southwest swell best, coming alive at around 3 feet (0.9 meters) over an uneven reef. Both lefts and rights peel off the peaks, though each direction offers a distinct challenge. On the right, you’ll find a quick, sucky section that can offer a brief tube before softening onto a slower shoulder. The left, however, runs straight toward rocks—adding a layer of consequence that demands total commitment and sharp instincts. Mid to high tide is the sweet spot, with a north wind cleaning things up. This is expert-only territory, no exceptions. Just to the east, Isla Silva de Adentro offers a powerful, hollow righthander that comes alive on larger south-southwest swells. If you’re chasing heavier, more demanding waves with fewer crowds, that short paddle is well worth the effort.

Best Surf Season (December - April)

When the Northern Hemisphere winter takes hold, the ITCZ sits south of the coastline and the northeast trade winds blow offshore across the SSW-facing beach at Nestles. Average swell heights are modest - around 0.7-0.8m (2.3-2.6ft) - but periods stay in the 12-14s range and the wind is ideal up to 47% of the time. That combination produces clean, long-period, fun-sized waves and makes this the most consistent window of the year, with February and March as the standout months.
