July: Offshore Gold, but Still Waiting on Swell

July is when Pacifico's wind climatology starts to look seriously good. Ideal wind time jumps to 25%, with WSW becoming the dominant wind direction at 22.5%, W at 10.7%, and SW at 10.0%. This is true offshore flow for the east-facing break, and the surface conditions are noticeably cleaner. On the wave side, however, average height remains a small 0.7m with a short, punchy 8.4s period. The swell distribution becomes more varied: ENE (34.8%), E (23.4%), and NE (5.1%) are still present, but now western-quadrant swell is a significant player-WSW (6.5%), W (6.1%), SW (4.6%), and WNW (1.8%) combine for around 19% of the total energy. You get clean, offshore, slightly gutless waves-perfect if you're on the right equipment, but the bigger swell is still a month or two away. Water temp is warm at 29.5°C, air temps around 27.9°C, and precipitation is moderate at 6.91 mm/day. July is a build-up month; the offshore wind is a gift, but the ocean needs a serious push of western swell.
