The wind is the real culprit here: from June through August, the dominant north-northwest wind blows directly onshore over 60% of the time, with ideal wind percentages plummeting to 11-18%. July is the worst month, with an average height of just 1.5m and a period of 8.6s—groveling territory. The swell that does arrive is mostly windswell from the NNW, which lines up okay but lacks the power to overcome the onshore breeze. On rare occasions, a late-season tropical system or a cut-off low can throw in a fun day, but for the most part, this is a time to explore other spots or enjoy the beach.
