Best Surf Season (November - March)

The winter months bring the most reliable offshore winds to Bucerias, with ideal conditions occurring upwards of 80% of the time. While the dominant swell shifts to a more westerly and northwesterly direction, the long-period nature of these swells (averaging 13-14 seconds) ensures plenty of power. The wave heights typically range from fun 0.5m to solid 1.5m, offering clean, groomed lines for your longboard or hybrid. Fair Surf Season (April, May, September, October)

September and October see a similar pattern, with the potential for larger swells from the South Pacific hurricane belt. Early mornings might offer a brief window of clean conditions, but overall, this is the least consistent time for a surf trip.

March marks a transition as the swell starts to rotate more southwesterly. The percentage of west-southwest swell increases to 27%, offering more direct exposure for the beach. Wind remains favorable, with 73% ideal conditions, though the offshore breeze is not as dominant as mid-winter. The average wave height ticks up slightly to 1.1m, and the period remains a solid 13.5s. This month offers a good balance between wind reliability and swell direction, making it a favorite for those who want both cleanliness and punch.
