Best Surf Season (October & March)

October and March serve as the sweet spot at Majestics, balancing solid swell with the highest probability of offshore winds. October sees an average swell height of 1.4m with a period of 9.6s, often from the NE and ENE – perfect for this north-facing beach. The frequency of ideal south to southwest winds jumps to 18% in October, offering more clean windows than the heart of winter. March, at the tail end of the NE monsoon, delivers similar quality with 1.6m average swell and a 4% chance of perfect conditions, but the wind patterns start to become more variable, making it a gamble worth taking.

Fair Surf Season (November – February)

The core winter months from November through February are when the Pacific storm track fires up, generating powerful long-period swell that pounds the coast. January and December average over 2.1m at 9+ seconds – that's firing, heavy, and pumping. However, the prevailing northeast trade winds are strongly onshore at Majestics, corrupting the wave face a majority of the time. The ideal wind percentages plummet to just 2-6%, meaning you have to be patient and pick your windows. But when a cold front pushes through and the wind swings to the south or southwest, you get a combination of size and glass that makes the wait worthwhile. November and February are similar, with slightly less size but still plenty of power – the key is timing the wind.

Low Surf Season (April – September)

From April through September, the southwest monsoon dominates the region, bringing consistent southerly quarter winds that blow directly offshore at Majestics. This is great news for wind quality – ideal conditions occur 36-53% of the time from May to August. The trade-off is a dramatic drop in swell size, with average heights falling to 1.0m or less from May to September. The swell direction also shifts to more easterly and even southerly sources, which are not as optimal for this north-facing exposure. Nonetheless, these months offer fun, clean small waves perfect for longboards and grovelers, especially in the mornings before the seabreeze kicks up.

December: Peak Winter Power, Elusive Glass

December is the apex of the winter swell window at Majestics, with an average height of 2.1m and period of 9.5s. The swell is predominantly from the ENE (48%) and NE (29%), generating consistent heavy, firing surf. This is the month when big-wave equipment is essential. However, the wind is the toughest hurdle: ideal offshore conditions are a mere 2% of the time, with NE (33.2%) and ENE (30.5%) winds creating messy, textured wave faces for the vast majority of the month. Only the most dedicated forecast watchers will score clean conditions – typically when a strong cold front passes and drags a southerly flow behind it. December is a true challenge: the waves are powerful, but you have to be ready to drop everything when that rare wind switch happens. The reward is some of the heaviest, most memorable sessions of the year.
