Best Surf Season (October & March)

October and March serve as the sweet spot at Majestics, balancing solid swell with the highest probability of offshore winds. October sees an average swell height of 1.4m with a period of 9.6s, often from the NE and ENE – perfect for this north-facing beach. The frequency of ideal south to southwest winds jumps to 18% in October, offering more clean windows than the heart of winter. March, at the tail end of the NE monsoon, delivers similar quality with 1.6m average swell and a 4% chance of perfect conditions, but the wind patterns start to become more variable, making it a gamble worth taking.

Fair Surf Season (November – February)

The core winter months from November through February are when the Pacific storm track fires up, generating powerful long-period swell that pounds the coast. January and December average over 2.1m at 9+ seconds – that's firing, heavy, and pumping. However, the prevailing northeast trade winds are strongly onshore at Majestics, corrupting the wave face a majority of the time. The ideal wind percentages plummet to just 2-6%, meaning you have to be patient and pick your windows. But when a cold front pushes through and the wind swings to the south or southwest, you get a combination of size and glass that makes the wait worthwhile. November and February are similar, with slightly less size but still plenty of power – the key is timing the wind.

Low Surf Season (April – September)

From April through September, the southwest monsoon dominates the region, bringing consistent southerly quarter winds that blow directly offshore at Majestics. This is great news for wind quality – ideal conditions occur 36-53% of the time from May to August. The trade-off is a dramatic drop in swell size, with average heights falling to 1.0m or less from May to September. The swell direction also shifts to more easterly and even southerly sources, which are not as optimal for this north-facing exposure. Nonetheless, these months offer fun, clean small waves perfect for longboards and grovelers, especially in the mornings before the seabreeze kicks up.

November: The North Swell Explodes

November sees the northeast monsoon fully re-established, with average swell height climbing to 1.7m and period at 9.4s. The swell direction is dominated by ENE (54.2%) and NE (32.3%), delivering powerful, long-period waves that quickly become heavy and pumping as the month progresses. The trade-off is in the wind: ideal offshore conditions plummet to just 6% as NE and ENE winds dominate over 57% of the time. This means many days feature onshore chop, but when a cold front or low-pressure system passes, the wind can swing to the south for a few hours, creating epic conditions. November is a high-risk, high-reward month – you need patience to score the clean windows, but when it all comes together, the waves are world-class. Focus on the backside of weather systems for the best chance of offshore glass.
