Swell heights drop dramatically—down to 0.4-0.5m from June through August—and periods shorten to 4.4-4.9s, producing weak, choppy waves. While a stray SW groundswell can still sneak in, the odds of scoring clean waves are slim. September: Signs of Life

September marks the beginning of the autumn transition. The average swell height is still a low 0.5m, but the period improves slightly to 4.6s.
