July is the pinnacle of the surf season at Newport, boasting the highest percentage of ideal wind – 43%. The average swell remains 1.4m at 9.5s, but the mix of directions widens: SSE (20.2%), SE (14.5%), and S (15.3%) combine with increasing contributions from SSW (6.3%) and even SW (3.2%). This variety ensures a steady supply of groundswell. The wind is dominantly from the W and NW, providing clean, offshore conditions on the majority of days.
