February holds similar size but offshore winds drop to 30%, and the dominant swell shifts more toward the SSE (35.7%) and S (26.3%), still favorable. By March, the offshore window narrows to just 11% as the seasonal wind regime flips to SW and SSW onshores. Swell bumps to 0.9 m on average, but the S/SSW direction dominates (58.8% S), which is borderline optimal. Expect cleanest conditions early in the morning before the seabreeze kicks in. Still plenty of groveling potential on the right days.

Low Surf Season (April - September)

The summer monsoon brings a dramatic trade-off: bigger swell but lousy wind. From April through September, the southwest flow dominates, with onshore winds from SW and SSW blowing 70–90% of the time. Swell heights climb to 1.1–1.6 m, and periods hover around 9 s, but the primary swell direction is straight out of the south (S) and south-southwest (SSW)—directions that are marginal to poor at Vizag’s SSE-facing beach. April and May are the worst, with only 4–6% offshore winds. June and July offer slightly better odds (14–15% offshore), and August improves to 23%, but the wind is still cross-onshore most days. September shows a glimmer of hope with 32% offshore, signaling the transition back to the best season.
