Moving into winter, July through September brings the biggest surf of the year, averaging 2.6-2.7m with periods of 13.0-13.1s. These are powerful, long-range swells generated by Southern Ocean storms that wrap beautifully into the West-facing beach. However, the offshore wind window narrows to 33-42%, and frequent cold fronts introduce more SW to W winds that blow directly onshore.
