Set back in a small bay, this right point break with a shorter left alternative offers a handful of takeoff zones, both inside and out, that adjust with swell size and direction. While its position in the bay allows it to lock onto solid trade swell more reliably than its shoreline neighbors, it doesn’t handle oversized conditions gracefully—wave quality tends to degrade when the forecast climbs past the 2.1-metre (7-foot) mark. Instead, Domes shines in a sweet spot of 1 to 2.1 metres (3 to 7 feet), preferably from a northeast swell, though northwest energy can also produce rideable if less consistent waves. The preferred wind is a clean southeast breeze, and ideal tide levels range from low to mid. When it’s on, expect fun, open-face carves on sections that can throw a bit of juice—a rewarding canvas for intermediate and advanced surfers alike to refine their turns. Crowds are the inevitable trade-off here. Domes can get densely packed, especially when it’s one of the few spots working in summer or spring, drawing a mix of regulars and wannabe locals. The local vibe can feel heavy at times, but the quality of the wave often outweighs the lineup tension. Access is straightforward: look for the distinctive dome structure, park nearby, and paddle out. Consistency peaks in autumn and winter, delivering the most reliable wave count, but late summer can surprise with tropical swell windows that add variety to the season. Best Surf Season (December - March)

The North Atlantic winter machine gets firing during these months. Swell heights climb to the 1.5-1.6m (5-5.5ft) range with average periods of 10 seconds, and the chance of seeing a clean, long-period pulse from the NNW - the only favorable direction from the W/NW quadrant - is at its highest. While the typical Caribbean trade wind regime keeps the surface reasonably clean around 62-64% of the time, it is the arrival of occasional cold-front-driven NW groundswell that truly brings Domes to life. If the winds align from the E/ESE, you get that glassy, ripped-yet-fast texture that the spot is known for.
