Best Surf Season (November - March)

The surf season at Indicators builds through the fall and peaks during the late autumn and winter months. From November through March, average swell heights run around 5ft (1.5m) and average periods sit right at 10 seconds, giving the west-facing banks a steady supply of powerful, long-period lines. The wave direction is dominated by the NE/ENE trade wind window, but the bigger, more exciting waves arrive when a strong cold front or low pressure system nudges the swell angle toward the W/WNW quadrant - the ideal direction for this exposure. It is worth noting that the wave rose is heavily weighted toward NE/ENE trade wind swell, while the truly ideal W/SW/WNW groundswells are rare. When they do appear, they bring the spot's most open and powerful waves. Offshore winds blow 64-72% of the time, keeping the surface manageable even when the surf is a bit above average.
