Flagler Beach is an east-northeast-facing beach that needs swell from the NNE, NE, ENE and E quadrant, combined with offshore west-quarter winds, to really fire. That combination lines up best from October through March, when the North Atlantic storm track cranks back up and cold fronts march across the Southeast U.S. The average surf height sits around 2ft (0.6-0.8m) during this period, but more importantly the percentage of favorable wind days jumps into the 22-30% range. Nor'easters spinning off the Carolinas push powerful NE-ENE swell directly into Flagler, and when the wind clocks into the SSW-SW-WSW-W quadrant, the beach serves up clean, rippable lines.
