Best Surf Season (March - June)

The best window at Kirra is the southern autumn and the start of winter. Between March and June, ideal offshore wind jumps from 54% to a peak of 64% in May, while the average wave period climbs from 8.5 to 8.9s. The Tasman Sea regularly feeds E/ESE swell through the 1.0-1.2m (3-4ft) range, and with S to SSW winds grooming the surface for the north-facing break, Kirra offers its most consistent, punchy, rippable surf. April and May are particularly strong, combining high offshore wind percentages with the broad E/ESE/SE swell mix that the sandbanks love.
