The Superbank's quality window is driven by the annual transition of the Tasman Sea and the western Pacific. From March through June, the subtropical ridge drifts south and the east coast low / Southern Ocean storm track becomes more active. The result is a steady supply of E-ESE swell at 4ft (1.2m) with periods stretching into the 8.5-8.9s range, while southerly and south-southwesterly winds dominate - the exact offshore angle for this north-facing sandbar. Clean-wind frequency peaks between 57-63%, making these the months with the most groomed walls per session.
