Best Surf Season (October - March)

The winter months bring Dwarka to life as the Arabian Sea sends consistent, long-period groundswell from the optimal SSW to W directions. Simultaneously, the Indian winter monsoon delivers steady offshore winds out of the N to E quadrants, keeping the wave faces clean and groomed. November stands out as the peak, with offshore wind frequency hitting 54% and average swell periods of 11.7 seconds. During this window, wave heights typically range from 0.7 to 1.3m, producing fun, rippable waves on a regular basis. When a strong storm track in the North Indian Ocean aligns, we see pulses of 1.5-2m swell with 12-14 second periods, offering punchy, powerful surf under classic Indian Ocean conditions.

Fair Surf Season (April & September)

April and September represent transitional windows between the winter and summer monsoons. Offshore wind frequencies drop to a mere 3%, but the synoptic patterns become more variable. Occasional mornings or late afternoons can deliver light offshore breezes from the N or E, especially in September when the lingering southwest monsoon begins to weaken. Swell directions remain dominated by SW to WSW, and wave heights average 0.9-1.3m with period around 10 seconds. The quality is inconsistent, but patient surfers can find rideable waves during these shoulder months.

Low Surf Season (May - August)

The Southwest Monsoon from May through August unleashes its fury on Dwarka, with prevailing onshore winds from the SW, WSW, and W ruining wave quality. Ideal offshore wind frequency drops to near zero, and the majority of the time the sea surface is choppy and messy. Although average swell heights peak at 2.1-2.5m with long periods around 10-11 seconds, the wind direction is exactly the worst – blowing directly against the optimal swell. The result is blown-out, lumpy surf that rarely cleans up. Unless a rare storm track shifts the wind offshore, these months are best spent surfing elsewhere or waiting for the wind to dial back.
