Best Surf Season (October - March)

Kovalam's surf year is dictated by the Indian monsoon rhythm. When the northeast monsoon takes hold from October through March, the west-southwest-facing breaks get a near-perfect recipe: small-to-moderate southern hemisphere swell wrapping into the bay, long-period 9-11s energy, and favourable offshore wind days 20-51% of the time. The waves may only average 2-4ft (0.6-1.2m), but clean surfaces and punchy lines make this the most consistent, enjoyable window of the year.
