Waves here typically run a couple of feet smaller than the lefts at nearby Tiger Stripes, and while the break lacks the size and power of those more intense peaks, it delivers a forgiving, user-friendly canvas ideal for honing your craft. Antiques comes to life on southeast or southwest swells, with cleanest conditions when a northwest wind nudges the surface glassy. It handles swell heights around two feet (0.6 meters) with surprising efficiency, and the wave holds up across all tides—low, mid, and high—giving you plenty of scheduling freedom. The takeoff is gentle, the lines predictable, and the pace relaxed, making this a welcome retreat for beginners finding their feet, as well as seasoned surfers looking to sharpen their technique or simply enjoy a stress-free ride. One note of caution: the reef beneath is dead coral, so keep your wits about you when paddling in and out. A little awareness goes a long way in keeping your session smooth and safe at this quiet Maldives gem.

Best Surf Season (December - March)

The northeast monsoon is the engine of Antiques' best surf. From December through March, the Asian landmass cools and a strong high-pressure system settles over the subcontinent, driving steady offshore winds out of the north, northwest and west-northwest through the Maldives. At the same time, fetches in the central Indian Ocean and the southern hemisphere storm track send a consistent stream of ESE, SE and SSE/S swell into this south-southeast-facing reef. Average surf hovers in the fun 3.5-4ft (1.1-1.2m) range, periods climb from 9.4s up to 10.6s, and favorable wind frequencies peak at 62-65 percent. The result is a prolonged window of clean, rippable, lined-up reef waves. It is the most reliable and highest-quality surf of the year.
